Photo Competition Results

Divephotofest.com would like to congratulate the winners of our first annual photo competition. The quality of entries was very high and it created a few arguments between Simon, Mike, and Tim as to the top three images! Thank you everyone for entering and please enjoy the winning images as much as we do.

In order to offer the best diving experience and variety of marine life, Dive Photo Fest workshops are scheduled in the Indo Pacific’s premiere locations. From the sharks and mantas of Palau and Yap to the amazing reefs and bizarre critters of the Philippines and Indonesia, we offer a great mix of photo subjects to choose from.

With the emerging popularity of underwater photography in the digital age, we have noticed many people with varying experience levels are purchasing new camera systems. In order to address the differing needs of this demographic, we now offer two different photography curriculums to choose from. Our standard workshops are designed for those with minimal photographic knowledge and experience underwater and on the computer. During a standard workshop, we start from the beginning with basic camera maintenance, lighting and strobe positioning, using a browser, basic Photoshop techniques, and composition. With 3 pros on hand, in water help is a trademark of our workshops, not only do we talk about theories, we help participants implement them in the field. Nightly critiquing sessions and entertainment in the form of slideshows, videos, and presentations add to the fun of our workshops.

Many people are beyond the basics when it comes to photography and computer skills and are looking to take their photography to the next level. With that in mind, we have recently created an Advanced Photography curriculum that will be of interest to those with a few years of experience under their belt. Without having to concentrate on the basics of lighting or computer work, we are able to jump straight into the fun stuff. Topics include the use of manual white balance and filters, creating different backgrounds, capturing motion blur, shooting models, and more advanced Photoshop techniques such as the use of layers and getting the best from prints. As with all of our workshops, “hands on” in water help and nightly critiquing sessions are also included. The first Advanced Photography workshop will be taking place in Bali from October 12-19, 2007.

Our 2007 workshop schedule offers four very diverse locations at different times of the year. Please browse the details of each workshop to find the one that suits your needs best.
